The Seven Pillars of Influence in a City

God gave man government to establish freedoms and boundaries. May we reflect His loving-kindness and righteous judgments in our government.

"And the government will rest on His shoulders." (Isaiah 9:6)

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice. From that time and forever the zeal of the Lord will perform this" (Isaiah 9:6-7).

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan" (Proverbs 29:2).

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil (Romans 13:1-4).

God formed them male and female in order to establish families to reflect His glory. May we restore Christ as the head of our families.

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation, God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity (Psalm 68: 5-6).

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord... Husbands, love your wives,as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her... Honor your father and mother... that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land. (Ephesians 5:22, 25, 6:2,3)

But know this that in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

"Behold, I will send you Elijah, the prophet, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, and he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest, I come and strike the earth with a curse" (Malachi 4:5-6).

Business should be viewed as a place to worship God through the area of our calling. May we worship You through our gifts, talents and resources to build Your Kingdom.

Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth (Deuteronomy 8.18).

"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon" (Luke 16:13).

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ (Col 3:23-25).

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands (Ps 90:17).

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith, in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6:10).

For thus says the Lord of hosts: Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory, says the Lord of hosts. The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine, says the Lord of hosts. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:6-9).

God communicated to man through a variety of ways. May we restore the ability to communicate truth and good news using His creative avenues.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" (Isaiah 52:7).

As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country (Proverbs 25:25).

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things (Isaiah 52:7).

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me, to preach good tidings to the poor: He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound" (Isaiah 61:1).

O, Zion, you who bring good tidings, get up, into the high mountains; O Jerusalem, you who bring good tidings, lift up your voice with strength (Isaiah 40:9).

Education should reflect the truth about God and man so that the truth shall make us free. May we seek and promote the true meaning of life through education. The "fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," and wisdom is the goal of education. There can be no true wisdom that does not begin with a proper "fear of the Lord."

Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your kinsman. (Proverbs 7:4)

Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it  (Proverbs 22:6).

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship (Ex 31:3-5).

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, For I believe Your commandments (Ps 119:66).

God never gave man a religion, but an opportunity for an intimate relationship with his Creator. May we come to know His presence and power in each of our lives.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)

If any of you wants to be My follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow Me. (Matthew 16:24)

Thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;  But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the Lord. (Jer 9:23-24)

Then he said to Him,"If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth." (Ex 33:15-16)

Arts and Entertainment should reflect the glory and majesty of our Creator. May we be instruments to celebrate His creativity in the arts, music, sports, fashion, entertainment, and every other way we celebrate and enjoy life. .

There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This is from the hand of God. For who can eat and who can have enjoyment without Him? (Ecclesiastes 2.24)

"Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce my servants" (Revelation 2:20).

Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph . . . who should prophesy with harps, stringed instruments and cymbals (1 Chronicles 25:1).

And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place…and the Levites who were singers…stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets- indeed it came to pass, when the trumpets and the singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord saying; For He is good, For His mercy endures forever, that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God (2 Chronicles 5:11-14).
